Any day or any time, if there is open gym space, the odds are Oak Lawn Community High School senior Ali Farhan will be there working on his basketball skills. He worked hard, took leadership responsibilities in the offseason, and subsequently was voted as a team captain by his teammates. He lived up to the title as he earned honors as an all-tournament team selection at the season-opening Spartan Ram Classic where the Spartans took third place.
“Ali has taken it upon himself to really improve his game in all areas since his junior season,” head coach Jason Rhodes said. “A true gym rat, he can look himself in the mirror and say, ‘I have done all I can to be twice the player I was last year.’
“Always giving 100 percent on the floor, Ali is also a student of the game, asking questions, sometimes even a step ahead of the coaching staff as we prepare for our upcoming opponents. We’re very excited for Ali’s senior season and for him to display the skills he has been building in the unseen hours of the offseason.”
