OLCHS District 229 participates in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program which provides nutritionally balanced meals to all students. The NSLP is managed at the federal level by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and at the state level by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). K-12 by Elior is the school’s food service management company that is committed to providing healthy food options that meet or exceed the standards required by these federal programs.
Under the National School Lunch Program, students may be eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals. OLCHS will notify parents if their student(s) have been directly certified by the state to receive free or reduced meals. All others may submit a Household Eligibility Application online in Skyward under the Food Service tab or the application below can be printed out and submitted to the OLCHS Business Office, Room 123, 9400 Southwest Highway, Oak Lawn, IL 60453. Paper applications are also available in the Business Office, Room 123. Students must qualify for meal benefits each school year.
Summer EBT, or SUN Bucks, is a nutrition program authorized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to help families buy food for their school-aged children during the summer. Summer EBT for 2025 will provide a $120 annual benefit to eligible children via an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) issuance by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). The Summer EBT Screener can be used to check whether your child/children will receive benefits automatically or if an application is needed. Click on Check if I Should Apply for Summer EBT at abe.illinois.gov which will take you to the Summer EBT Screener.
