  • Did you know Mariah Carey’s father was black and Good morning! Here is your Black-Latino fact of the day. Venezuelan? The famous singer with songs like “All I Want For Christmas is You”, “We Belong Together”, and “Fantasy” was mentored by African American Icon Aretha Franklin. Though she didn’t know her father, her Afro-Latina blood still runs through her. This has been your Black History fact for Feb 20, 2026. Remember, Black- Latino History is American History!

  • 70’s Rocker Meat Loaf had a hit song Two out of Three Ain’t Bad. The Varsity Scholastic Bowl had strong performances at the SSC Red Conference Tournament by earning victories over Richards and Eisenhower to win two out of three matches on the night at Evergreen Park. Brody Ivey led all scorers with 10 tossups, followed by Charles Levora with 6 tossups, Sara Abdelrahman with two tossups, and Helaena Cielos with one tossup. The JV had a nice night too, with solid performances. Yusr Elameer led the team with 7 tossups, Lyaan Yasin with 2 tossups, Sara Nassar with 2 tossups, and Briza Garcia with 1 tossup. Also, a special shout-out to All Conference Varsity Player Brody Ivey and JV All Conference Player Yusr Elameer. We are now preparing for the Regional at St. Rita in a couple of weeks.

  • Thornton Fractional South was no match for Spartan esports! Senior Jason Molenaar crushed his way to 4th in Smash Ultimate Solos, and Junior Danny Castillo touched down 4th in Madden. Great weekend, gamers! If you’re curious about competitive video gaming at the IHSA level, join us Tuesday after school in the Media Center. We compete in Smash Brothers Ultimate, Madden, FC, Rocket League, and Mario Kart. We need YOU for esports today!

  Ramadan To-Go Meals Available in the Cafe

To support those observing Ramadan, the Cafe will offer bagged to-go meals through Wednesday, March 18. These meals are designed to be picked up during regular lunch periods and enjoyed later at sunset. Simply select your meal and bring it to the cashier to check out.

Boys Tennis - Interested in trying out for Boys Tennis next week? Registration is now open! Scan the QR code on the posters in the hallways or visit the OLCHS Athletics website.

Try Outs will be Monday 3/2 12:00-2:00 and Tuesday 3/3 3:30-5:30 on the school tennis courts.
