The Spartan Boys Bowling Team are IHSA Regional Champions! This is the third regional win in a row, and fourth in the last five years. We knocked down a crazy 6653 pins over 6 games at Palos Lanes last Friday. Charlie Dell finished in 4th, Peter Garcia 5th, Justin Canvin 6th, David Bush 10th, and Zachary Shane 15th. This was a total team win, and we advanced to the Fenton Sectional this Saturday. Good luck Spartan Bowlers! #SpartanPride
Scholastic Bowl had a nice home meet last night with a 160-90 win over TF South. At the competition, “One Take,” Brody Ivey was tied for the scoring lead with 6 tossups. Charles Levora also had 6 tossups followed by Joseph O’Leary with 3, and Kiara Lara with 1. The JV also had some great performances, with Yusr Elameer leading the way with 10 tossups, Laila Bonello, making her debut with 2, and Briza Garcia scoring 1 tossup. 9th and 10th graders, the JV team could use some more freshmen and sophomores, so please see Mr. DiFilippo in 366 if you are interested. Also, a shout out to Mr. Wargin, Mr. Gerny and Mr. Biga for helping us host the event.
On Wednesday, January 28 at 7:00pm in the OLCHS Performing Arts Center, Oak Lawn Spartans Michael Concannon, Sophie Mathews, and Michaela Plude, will compete against students from Argo, Evergreen Park, and Reavis to find this year’s AERO Karaoke champion! Tickets are $5 and will be sold online and at the door, https://omella.com/yyyj2. All proceeds benefit the AERO school Fine Arts programs. Come out and join us to support these Spartans. They need your votes!
Spartans! This February, our school will be celebrating Black History Month, and we have some great activities planned for you. Black Student Union and Spanish Honor Society are joining forces to create fun and engaging Spartan Plus sessions. They include Trivia Challenges where you can win prizes. Be on the lookout for these sessions posted soon in Skyward so you can sign up. Don’t miss out on these opportunities to connect, learn, and celebrate together. Let’s show up, get involved, and keep building a stronger Spartan community!
Valentine’s Day is almost here! Creative Writing Club is sponsoring a Valentines Poetry contest to start the Spring semester! Enter as many poems as you would like. Submissions must be original. Deadline is Monday, February 9th. Winner will be notified on Thursday February 12th. Please email entries to Mrs. Razik at [email protected].

Ventra cards can be renewed for the 2025-26 school year and new Ventra cards can be purchased for $2.00 in the Business Office, Room 123. If you’ve already purchased a card online from the OLCHS Webstore, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm. Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to renew or purchase a card.
