Stuff You Need to Know

FIVE IN A ROW! That's right, the Varsity Boys Bowling Team won our 5th consecutive SSC Red Title last Friday at Palos Lanes. Both Varsity and JV are Conference Champs! Varsity had the top 3 bowlers of the tournament! Justin Canvin finished 1st, Charlie Dell 2nd, and Peter Garcia was 3rd. David Bush finished 13th and Decimus Pecina was 14th, both just missing All-Conference honors.

JV had FOUR bowlers in the top 10 and overcame a 173 pin deficit in the last game, beating Reavis to capture the crown. Zach Shane bowled a perfect 300 in game 1 and finished first (on both levels) knocking down an impressive 1319 pins. Ethan Aguinaga was 3rd, Jose Zavala 4th, and Patrick Lamberth was tied for 9th!

Way to go Spartans! Next Friday we host the IHSA Regional at Palos Lanes. Go Green!

What: Egyptian, Sudanese and Syrian Culture Night, an evening to highlight the richness and beauty of the three cultures in its many forms, including art, food, songs, dance, music, Sudanese wedding and much more!

When: Friday January 16th, 2026

Time: from 5:30-8:30 PM

Where: at the PAC, park in the student parking lot and enter from door#12D

Cost: FREE (Donation will be accepted to support the Sudanese communities in the USA)

Organizers: Students in the Arabic 3 & 4 Honors classes and members of the AHS club.

Ventra cards can be renewed for the 2025-26 school year and new Ventra cards can be purchased for $2.00 in the Business Office, Room 123.  If you’ve already purchased a card online from the OLCHS Webstore, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm. Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to renew or purchase a card.

Tech Help - If you’re having trouble logging into your classes or having any other tech issues, please email [email protected] for tech assistance. If possible, include a screenshot of your issue. 

The iTeam Genius Bar is open from 7:45 am - 3:00 pm. Students can come to the Media Center for support.

Graphic Design Club - Graphic Design Club will meet this Wednesday, January 14th from 3-4pm in room 146. New members are always welcome. See Mrs. Hartmann with questions.

Are you interested in a career in the medical field? The first meeting of the new Spartan Medical Club will be after school on Tuesday 1/13 in the College & Career Center. Come check out this new club and hear about the different activities planned for this group!

Athletic News


Boys’ Track & Field - The Indoor Season begins on Tuesday, January 20.  There will be a Team Meeting on Tuesday, January 20 in the Jr./Sr. Lounge right after school with practice to follow.  All athletes need to have a current physical on file and have registered to participate in practice.  Registration portal: Boys' Track & Field Registration  Please see Coach S. Girls’ Volleyball - There is a girls volleyball meeting this Wednesday at 9am in Room 249. Anyone interested in trying out next fall should attend. Contact Coach Miller ([email protected]) with any questions.
