BRIAN FRANGELLA AWARDED OUTSTANDING EDUCATOR

Oak Lawn Community High School English teacher Brian Frangella has received the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award. Karla Romero, a graduate who was in Brian’s English 1 Honors and AP Language and Composition class, nominated Brian.

An Outstanding Educator shapes young minds in meaningful ways—thoughtfully approaching instruction, sharing an infectious love for learning, and caring for students both inside and outside of the classroom. Each year, newly admitted UChicago students have the opportunity to reflect on their time in school and nominate an educator who played a significant role in their education, made a positive impact in their lives, and whose influence has brought them to where they are today.

Brian said, “I was surprised and honored to know that Karla nominated me. She is an excellent student who is intelligent, funny,  and considerate. It is a boost of confidence for me that students truly appreciate what we do as teachers. I am grateful to do what I do every day.”
