Stuff You Need to Know
If you are part of the homecoming parade TODAY Wednesday, October 1 and you need a ride to the start of the parade route, a First Student school bus will be available to transport students, staff, and parade participants from the Austin Avenue/Football Field PACE bus pick-up area to Alive Church (89th Street & Austin Avenue). The bus service will begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue until 6:20 p.m. The bus is free.
Creative Writing presents…Homecoming flower sale continuing Wednesday October 1 at 8am in the student cafeteria, and during all lunch periods until we run out of flowers. Buy some for someone special, a friend or a staff member! Don’t wait supplies are limited, first come first serve!!
The Girls Volleyball Program is selling Pink Out shirts for their annual breast cancer awareness match on Tuesday, October 7th. Shirts are on sale for $15 and can be purchased in Coach Miller’s room - 249. All proceeds will be donated to the Karen Janecek Scholarship.
From the nurse’s office:
All freshmen must provide the health office with their ninth-grade physical examination and record of vaccinations before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. Additionally, all seniors must provide the health office a copy of their meningococcal vaccine record before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. These two requirements are state mandated. Please stop by the nurse’s office if you have any questions.
Are you interested in fashion and showing off your Hispanic heritage? Consider being a part of our fashion show for our community outreach event on October 17th from 6-8pm. Let Ms. Torres know and come join us for dress rehearsals on October 7th and 14th from 3-5pm. Those participating in the fashion show will receive a service hour towards their graduation requirement. Students: If you have lost your glasses, please check in the Main Office lost and found. We have several pairs of glasses.

Ventra cards can be renewed for the 2025-26 school year and new Ventra cards can be purchased for $2.00 in the Business Office, Room 123. If you’ve already purchased a card online from the OLCHS Webstore, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm. Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to renew or purchase a card.

The iTeam Genius Bar is open from 7:45 am - 3:00 pm. Students can come to the Media Center for support.
Student Services News
PSAT/NMSQT: Sophomores & Juniors—the optional PSAT test is Thursday, Oct. 16. Recommended for college-bound students; juniors can qualify for National Merit recognition. Register in Student Services while spots last. Cost: $18 (waived for students on free/reduced lunch). See Mr. Pastiak or your counselor with questions.
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors:
If you’re interested in the military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or National Guard) or want to explore career options after high school, you should take the ASVAB exam.

If interested, fill out the Google form or see your school counselor by Friday, October 3.

You must sign up in Schoolinks the day before the visit, and you must get approval from the teacher whose class you will miss.
