From the nurse’s office:
All freshmen must provide the health office with their ninth-grade physical examination and record of vaccinations before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. Additionally, all seniors must provide the health office a copy of their meningococcal vaccine record before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. These two requirements are state mandated. Please stop by the nurse’s office if you have any questions.
Attention Student Council, Cheer Team & Screamers: Your signed Dash for Den 5K field trip form is due to the Media Center TODAY. Remember - your $10 donation includes a T-shirt, pumpkin & Plush Horse ice cream.
Are you interested in fashion and showing off your Hispanic heritage? Consider being a part of our fashion show for our community outreach event on October 17th from 6-8pm. Let Ms. Torres know and come join us for dress rehearsals on October 7th and 14th from 3-5pm. Those participating in the fashion show will receive a service hour towards their graduation requirement. Homecoming guest forms: The homecoming dance is right around the corner! If you are planning to bring a non-OLCHS guest to the dance, a guest request form must be completed and submitted to the Deans’ Office by September 25th. The forms are available in the Deans’ Office, Main Office and Student Services.

Donations and proceeds from the night will go toward the Cal’s Angel Foundation — bringing love, hope, and research to the fight against childhood cancer. Be there. Be bold. Be GOLD.

Ventra cards can be renewed for the 2025-26 school year and new Ventra cards can be purchased for $2.00 in the Business Office, Room 123. If you’ve already purchased a card online from the OLCHS Webstore, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm. Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to renew or purchase a card.

The iTeam Genius Bar is open from 7:45 am - 3:00 pm. Students can come to the Media Center for support.
Club/Team News
E-Sports - Calling all Gamers! We will have an open tournament for Smash and Mario Kart on Tuesday the 23rd in the Media Center. All skills–casual or competitive–are welcome to join! Sign up with the QR Code in the Student Cafeteria by end of school on Monday. Email Ms. Kolimas if you have any questions.
Student Services News
PSAT/NMSQT: Sophomores & Juniors—the optional PSAT test is Thursday, Oct. 16. Recommended for college-bound students; juniors can qualify for National Merit recognition. Register in Student Services while spots last. Cost: $18 (waived for students on free/reduced lunch). See Mr. Pastiak or your counselor with questions.
Need service hours? Lots of great opportunities were just added to the Service Learning Calendar:
- There are still a few spots open to help at the Hannum Elementary Tie-Dye Party TONIGHT!
- Help set up tables and chairs for a Veterans lunch at St. Paul's Lutheran Church this Friday, 9/19 from 5:00 - 6/6:30 pm.
- Pumpkin Days have started at The Children’s Farm at the Center in Palos and lots of volunteers are needed every weekend through Halloween.
