ONE-MAN WRECKING CREW FINLEY DOES IT ALL FOR OAK LAWN TRACK

Senior Jaion Finley can do it all: short sprints, long sprints, high jumps, and long jumps. However, that is not even enough for him. He recently added the 300-meter hurdles to his list of events and found success. No matter the event, he has proven to be the top dog.

Finley earned the most points for the Oak Lawn Community High school boys track and field during the indoor and outdoor seasons. He runs the 100-meters, 200-meters, 400-meters, 300-meter hurdles, the 400-meter relay, the 800-meter relay and the 1,600-meter relay. He also competes in the high jump and long jump.

He has simply dominated the competition across the board. In fact, he clocked the team’s fastest 400-meter time at 52 seconds and the highest high jump at 5-foot-seven inches.

“He has earned the most points on the team in both the indoor and outdoor seasons with his individual and relay events, which has elevated our team in the standings single-handedly,” head coach Scott Miller said. “Not only is he an outstanding athlete in the sprints and jumps, but he recently added the 300 hurdles to his resume, which is one of the most difficult events to compete in.

“Every time Jaion has been added to a relay team, they have earned a season personal best in that event. He is the definition of a team player. His commitment and dedication to his training, growth, and strong performances make him a standout on our track and field team.”

Finley has shown there is nothing he can’t do for the Spartans.
