Stuff You Need to Know

Congratulations to the Girls’ Track & Field team who fought valiantly at the SSC Red Conference meet last Thursday.  The Varsity team retained 3rd place while The JV team had a strong second place showing.  

The highlights of the meet were:

-Senior Molly Cameron won the high jump, placed 2nd in the Triple Jump, and 5th in the Long Jump.  Her leap of 11.29 meters in the Triple Jump broke the 28-year-old school record!

-Freshman Nelly Misner finished 2nd in the Varsity 3200m run and 6th in the 1600m run.

-Junior Dareen Al Najjar is the conference champion in the JV 100m Hurdles!

-Sophomore Chloe Smith took 2nd place in both the JV 300m Hurdles and JV Triple Jump

-Two-time defending Varsity 400m dash Champion Lamia Quinones closed out her conference career with a strong second place finish! 

-Senior Annie McGrath placed 3rd in both the 100m high & 300mr low hurdles

-Senior Molly Sheridan placed 4th in both the 800m & 1600m runs

-Junior Alyssa Paplawskas and Annie McGrath took 3rd & 4th in Varsity Pole Vault

-Junior Savanna Hartmann and Senior Gianna O’Brien took 1st & 2nd in the JV Pole Vault

-Sophomore McKenzie Gatlin-James finished 3rd in the JV 200m dash and 4th in the JV 100m dash.  She also anchored the 4 x 100 relay to a 4th place finish.

-Junior Ariana Leato placed 2nd in the JV 3200m run along with a 5th place finish in the JV 1600m run.

On Friday night the team travels to Oak Park - River Forest High School for the IHSA Sectional Meet.  Field events begin at 4:30pm while the track action begins at 6:00pm.

Important Message from the Deans’ Office: Don’t want to start the next school year missing the fun stuff? Unserved consequences will result in Social Suspension to start the 2025-2026 school year.  Please make sure you meet Spartan expectations through the last days of school.  See your Dean if you have questions.

Freshmen! Sophomores! Juniors! Please return ALL materials to the Media Center by TOMORROW Thursday, May 15. This includes library books, Apple pencils, keyboards and Kajeet hot spots. If you have questions, please see a Media Center staff member.  

Senior iPad Sales – Today is the last day to purchase your iPad. Those eligible to purchase their iPads online should have received an email. In-person iPad sales can be paid for in the Business Office, Rm 123. You may pay with cash, check or charge.  Those purchasing an iPad will receive an email from the Tech Department after May 14th with instructions on how to remove the OLCHS restrictions. Regardless of when you pay for your iPad, the school will not release your iPad until after all classes have been completed.  If not purchasing your iPad, please return it to the Media Center between May 12 - May 14th.  iPads not returned will be shut down and charged a fee of $350.00.   

Ventra cards can be renewed for the 2024-25 school year and new Ventra cards can be purchased for $2.00 in the Business Office, Room 123.  If you’ve already purchased a card online from the OLCHS Webstore, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm. Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to renew or purchase a card.

Tech Help - If you’re having trouble logging into your classes or having any other tech issues, please email iPad Support for tech assistance. If possible, include a screenshot of your issue. 

The iTeam Genius Bar is open from 7:45 am - 3:00 pm. Students can come to the Media Center for support.

Club/Team News

FSCAB - FSCAB will host its final meeting and end of the year party TODAY Wednesday May 14th. We will also choose our officers for next year! See you then!”

Student HelpersDo you like to help others?  Consider joining Student Helpers!  Our informational meeting will be held TODAY Wednesday May 14th at 3p in the Jr/Sr lounge.  Open to all Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors.  See you there!

Athletic News

Boys Basketball - We will host a 15-minute Boys Basketball meeting TOMORROW Thursday, May 15th immediately after school in Coach Herbeck’s room 261. We’ll be discussing summer camp and summer league dates. See you there! If you have questions, please email Coach Rhodes.

Football - Anyone interested in being a football manager next season, please attend a short meeting after school TOMORROW Thursday May 15th in room 17.

Girls’ Summer Basketball - Any current freshman, sophomore, and junior girls interested in playing basketball, there will be a meeting on Friday morning at 8:05 in the Spartan Gym to discuss the summer basketball schedule. The meeting will last 15 minutes. See you then!

Girls’ Volleyball - Any girls interested in trying out for volleyball next fall - there is a mandatory meeting TOMORROW Thursday at 8:15am in Room 249. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Miller.

Girls’ Wrestling - There will be an interesting meeting for girls wrestling TODAY Wednesday May 14th at 3:15 in the older drivers’ ed room, room 281. We will discuss any questions or concerns you may have as well as the schedule for our summer camp. Email Coach Arthur  if you have any questions.

Sideline/Football Cheer - Tryouts for the Sideline/Football Cheer season will be held on Monday, May 19th and Tuesday, May 20th from 3:30 to 6:00 in Gym 101.  If you are interested, you must register on 8to18/Snap prior to tryouts.  If you have any questions, please see Coach Vanderwarren    in Room 123.
