Senior Briana Torres might be one of the best symbols to represent the type of team this year’s Oak Lawn Community High School girls basketball team was. Relentless effort, strong work ethic, and staunch intensity all played a role in the Spartans winning their fifth-straight South Suburban Conference Red championship.
Torres displayed all of that and more.
“Briana is the epitome of a true teammate and is exactly what every coach hopes to have on their roster,” head coach Mark Sevedge said. “Briana is a selfless teammate who comes to work every day to not only get better herself as a player, but to push those around her to improve themselves.
“Because of Bri’s work ethic, her drive, and her effort on the court, those playing with her must match her intensity. More importantly though, the players she is going against in practice must match Bri’s energy level as well. Briana is a huge reason for the success our team has had, and we are so grateful for all that she has given to the program.”
