Boys bowler Justin Canvin is keeping the good times rolling at Oak Lawn Community High School. After individually finishing second at the South Suburban Conference Red tournament, and finishing third at the Illinois High School Association Regional tournament, he recently punched his ticket to the IHSA State Finals to be held this weekend in O’Fallon, Ill.
Last Friday, Canvin finished 11th out of 99 individual bowlers at the IHSA Sectional tournament held at Thunderbowl with a six-game total of 1,289 pins. He averaged 215 pins per game.
As a team, the Spartans won the SSC Red championship, and they won the regional championship along the way.
Over the weekend Justin finished in 34th place at the Boys Bowling IHSA State Finals. Justin started Friday off a little slow with two games below average, and he was sitting in 117th place. He battled back in games 3 through 6 and made the cut for day 2. Saturday, he continued to climb up the leader board and had OL’s best state finisher since 2015.
It was a tremendous season for the Boys Bowling Team, and we have much to celebrate. We have a young team and cannot wait to get back to O’Fallon for the State Finals next year. Thank you so much for all the support from families, friends, staff, and alumni throughout the season. The best is yet to come!
