On October 30th, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released data used to evaluate Oak Lawn Community High School District 229. The annual Report Card data provides a detailed look at our school’s progress on multiple areas including academics, students success, school culture and climate, and financial investments.
Oak Lawn Community High School students have shown notable academic progress in several areas compared to previous years. Specifically, the percentage of 9th grade students on track for graduation increased by 3.6% from the previous year. In Science, there was a significant 10.4% improvement in the number of students meeting or exceeding the ISBE benchmark. Additionally, Oak Lawn students outperformed the state average in this area by 3.1%.
This year Oak Lawn Community High School District 229 received the second highest designation of Commendable. First year Superintendent, Dr. Shahe Bagdasarian said “We are proud of our designation this year and have much to celebrate. We will continue to focus on our District/School Work Plans to provide the best educational opportunities for our students. With the partnership of our parents, students, staff and community, we can continue to make substantial gains.”
