COMMITMENT MAKES DIFFERENCE FOR LEATO IN CROSS COUNTRY

Since joining the Oak Lawn Community High School girls cross country team last year, Ariana Leato has done nothing but improve and drop her time. The fact that she ran track last spring and continued to work hard over the summer paid off for her.

After running a personal best of 31:55 last year, she has now lowered that personal-best time more than eight minutes at 23:25 this season. She now stands as one of the Spartans’ Top Seven runners.

“Ariana has shown remarkable dedication and growth over the past year, becoming an essential member of our varsity team,” head coach Sue Szala said. “Her commitment to improving her running began with joining track, followed by her consistent effort throughout the summer. Ariana’s drive and determination have not gone unnoticed, and this is exactly the kind of commitment that makes great runners. We are incredibly proud of her progress this season.”
