Some athletes just have a knack for coming through in clutch situations. For Oak Lawn Community High School’s Payton Zager, he is that athlete on the boys golf team. He comes through when it matters most.
Last season he led the junior varsity team to the South Suburban Conference Red title by medaling with the lowest score in the tournament.
This year he shot an 87 on the varsity level at Cog Hill on Tuesday and finished in seventh place overall at the conference meet. His clutch performance helped the Spartans golf team win its first conference championship since 2004.
“Payton came up clutch in the SSC Red conference match…again,” said head coach Shawn Neubauer. “Last year he helped the JV team to the title, and this year he helped the varsity win it.”
