Homecoming 2024 Preparations “Spartans at the Disco”

Oak Lawn Community High School is preparing for its annual homecoming spirit week by announcing its theme: Spartans at the Disco.

In preparation, on September 18, students will vote online for their homecoming court which is comprised of outstanding juniors and seniors nominated by sports teams and extracurricular clubs.

To further get in the spirit, on September 20, students from a variety of clubs and teams will decorate doors and windows after school.

Starting Monday, September 23, Student Council has planned a busy, fun week filled with spirit-themed days and activities. Monday, the "Class Color Clash" will take place at the pep assembly when each class will shout loud and proud to prove they are the most spirited. The 2:00pm assembly will highlight Fall sports teams, extracurricular clubs, the Homecoming Court, and Grand Marshal Amy Cryan, an Oak Lawn Family & Consumer Science teacher. Tuesday, Spartans are encouraged to represent their favorite team on "Jersey Day." There will be a girls' flag football game at 6:00pm.  Wednesday, it's "Spartans at the Disco" where sequins and 1970s attire are a must. Thursday, it's "Inside Out Day" where Spartans are encouraged to express their emotions based on the popular Inside Out movies. Friday, all Spartans should wear green to show their "Spartan PRIDE" and root on the football teams.  JV will kick off at 5:00 p.m. and the Varsity game will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Homecoming parade is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25 and will step off from Alive Community Church, 8844 S Austin Ave, Oak Lawn, at 6:30pm down Austin Avenue followed by the pep rally and fireworks at Napleton Field on the OLCHS campus.

The Homecoming dance will take place on Saturday, September 28, 7:00-10:00pm, in the Spartan Gym. Tickets are $25 and will be on sale online at the OLCHS Web Store September 23-27. No tickets are sold at the door. If a student is bringing a non-OLCHS guest, a signed Guest Request Form is due September 19 to the Deans' Office.

Parents, alumni and community members are welcome to attend the parade, pep rally, and all Fall home athletic games to cheer on the OLCHS Spartans.
