Please congratulate the Journalism Team on their fourth consecutive Sectional Title. They qualified for the State Finals in Bloomington in 15 events. The Sectional Champions were Grace Tynski (Feature Writing), Sierra Knutsen (Yearbook Caption Writing), Annabel Davison (Editorial Writing), Allie Gabriel (Sports Writing), Heather Sterling (Advertisement), Rawan Ali (Photo Story Telling), Camilia Ramirez (Yearbook Copy), and the dynamic duo of Mia Reyes and Staci Sandquist (Yearbook Theme Development).

Other Oak Lawn Journalism qualifiers were Grace Tynski (Review Writing), Yumn Elameer (Infographics), Omar Tellez (Newspaper Design), Omar Ali (Radio Broadcast), Adan Dominguez (Headline Writing), Rizan Ali (Yearbook Layout), and the trio of Gabriel Gaidelis, Victoria Hartin, and Oluwasemilogo Oyekunie (Video News Broadcast).

Please wish us luck as we head to compete at Bloomington on Friday April 26th.

SENIORS!!!! For the first time in a long time, the senior class advisory board is bringing back a senior breakfast. The date will be next week April 17th at 10 am. For only 5 dollars you can enjoy a full breakfast, time with your friends, and participate in senior activities. Tickets will go on sale Thursday this week, check your canvas and email for links and details.

Join us on the trip of a lifetime to the Dominican Republic! The trip is during Spring Break of March 2026. The trip is only open to current Freshman and Sophomores. The total cost of your trip covers all traveling expenses, including flights, lodging, meals, transportation, and medical insurance. The only things not covered in this cost are personal money for things like souvenirs or any extra needs while on the trip. Juniors and Seniors… it is time to celebrate!  Prom is Friday, May 3rd at The Odyssey in Tinley Park from 7-11pm.  This year’s theme is “All The Stars”.  Tickets are $85 per person.  They are being sold online through the Webstore until April 23rd.  No tickets will be sold at the door.

 

OLCHS students and guests must show a valid ID, and their e-mailed ticket receipt, to enter the dance.  Guest forms are available in both the Dean’s and Main offices as well as on the school website.  Completed guest forms must be returned to the Deans’ office no later than April 23rd.  Guest tickets can then be purchased online from April 25th-29th.

Please help the Social Action Club and Spartan Sisterhood celebrate Women’s History Month and Arab American Heritage Month by collecting & donating hygiene products for women!  All proceeds will benefit the Arab American Family Services Center. Please bring donations to Mrs. Kuchyt’s room (room 374).

Breakfast items are now available in the Spartan Lobby from 8:00am-8:25am and from 8:50am – 9:15am on Wednesdays. The price of the complete breakfast meal will either be Free, Reduced ($.30) or Paid ($3.50). A complete breakfast meal includes one entree and a minimum of one, up to two sides (unless otherwise marked). In addition to the complete meal, a la carte items such as breakfast bars, granola bars, etc. will also be available for purchase. Be ready to show your ID and please eat your breakfast BEFORE the start of your first period. Keep an eye out for the breakfast cart in the Spartan Lobby!

Ventra Cards are now available for sale in the Business Office, Room 123. Cost is $2.00. If you’ve already purchased a card online, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm. Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to pick up/purchase a card.

Athletic News

Scholarship Opportunity for all Senior Athletes: The OLCHS Athletic Booster Club is excited to offer their annual Joe Pajac Scholarships. Each year, the Booster Club provides three (3) $1000 scholarships to senior athletes who will be continuing their education after graduation. Athletes must also have a family member that is a registered Booster Club member by April 5th. To submit an application, please visit the Athletic Office for a paper application, or use the following link to apply online (Application Link). Applications are due by 3:30pm on Monday, April 29th.

Cheer - Interested in the 2024 Fall Cheer Season?  Come to our open gym in gym 101 Tuesday April 23rd from 4pm to 6pm and Saturday May 4th from 12pm to 2pm.  Tumble, stunt, jumps, sideline cheers and more will be our focus to get ready for tryouts held in May.  If you have any questions, contact Coach Vanderwarren in Room 123.
