SRMEK USES ATTITUDE TO EARN SPOT AT FIRST DOUBLES FOR OAK LAWN TENNIS

Sometimes all it takes is a fearless attitude and a competitive drive to get what an athlete wants. For Adrian Srmek, that aggressive nature made all the difference this spring on the boys tennis court for Oak Lawn Community High School.

Without having any real tennis experience, he jumped right into action and challenged the veteran players on the team. When he started beating those other players, it caught the attention of the coaching staff. As a result, Srmek earned a spot at first doubles for the Spartans in his first season of action.

“Adrian is brand new to the tennis team and has quickly stood out as a leader on the team with a competitive attitude,” head coach Adam Winchell said. “Adrian has very little experience but jumped right into the sport and quickly challenged varsity members of the team who have years of experience and either defeated them in a match or came very close. This is a huge accomplishment. He has the potential for a great season.”
