OAK LAWN’S MCLAIN WINS REGIONAL TITLE IN WRESTLING

It may just be her first year wrestling at Oak Lawn Community High School, but Charvelle Mclain is quickly making a name for herself. Her first year has seen a ton of success, and she is looking for more.

She finished the season with a record of 19-2. She won second place at the Lake Park Invitational. She had a victory at the Bengal Bash. However, the best was yet to come.

Mclain became Oak Lawn’s first female wrestler to earn all-conference honors at the South Suburban Conference meet. Then, she went on to win the title at the Illinois High School Association Regional meet with a come-from-behind pin.

“Charvelle has emerged as an exceptional talent,” head coach David Early said. “She has a never-quit attitude. Off the mat, she leads by example, maintaining perfect attendance and inspiring her teammates with her dedication and leadership. This sets a high bar for her future, highlighting the importance of perseverance and hard work.”
