OAK LAWN’S CAMERON EARNS HONOR AS IHSCCO ALL-STATE COMPETITIVE CHEER ATHLETE

Skill, execution, and precision are three keys to being a successful competitive cheerleader. For Oak Lawn Community High School’s Molly Cameron, this is exactly where she excels. As a result, she was selected by a highly qualified committee of the Illinois High School Cheerleading Coaches Organization as an All-State Competitive Cheer Athlete.

“Molly being selected as an IHSCCO All-State Competitive Cheer Athlete not only acknowledges the hard work and dedication she has given but also her personal growth on our team and in this difficult sport,” head coach Maria Vanderwarren said. “It takes ambition and drive to develop elite skills, and Molly has accomplished that. I am very proud to coach such a talented, dedicated athlete.”

Cameron was nominated for the honor by Vanderwarren, who focused on Cameron’s exemplary skills. Hundreds of video submissions were reviewed by head coach members and other members of the IHSCCO Board of Directors to make the selection. She was eventually chosen as one of the 20 athletes selected in the large varsity cheer division and was honored at the Illinois High School Association Competitive Cheerleading State Finals on Feb. 2, 2024, in Bloomington, Ill.
