The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program is a nationally recognized competition in which students submit their original works. Students can win gold and silver keys or honorable mentions and move on to compete at the national level if they win a gold key. Four Oak Lawn Community High School students won awards this year. Oliver Rabideaux won a silver key in film and animation. Eli O'Grady won a gold key (a top award) in drawing and illustration. Eileen O'Neill won a silver key in digital art. Shelbylyn Dykstra won two honorable mentions for photography. Art teacher Ailysh Cooper said, “Participation in an art competition requires skill and bravery. We are so proud of our students who sent in artwork to be judged and displayed.”
