SHARP-SHOOTING MONTGOMERY TURNS UP HEAT FOR OAK LAWN BASKETBALL

Junior Donte Montgomery came out firing right from the start of the season for the Oak Lawn Community High School boys basketball team by leading the Spartans in scoring during a championship run in the Spartan-Ram Classic. He was named as an all-tournament selection, and he continues to lead the team in scoring with 18.4 points per game and three assists a game. That has earned him the recognition of being named the Oak Lawn Athlete of the Month for November.

Montgomery broke on the varsity scene last year, but he has improved by leaps and bounds to become a leader for the Spartans. Now, he has also elevated his play at the defensive end of the court to make him a true dual threat. He is averaging three steals per game.

“Donte’s impact on the game beyond scoring continues to evolve in a positive and exciting fashion, as do his leadership skills,” head coach Jason Rhodes said. “He has turned up his defense and playmaking to go along with excellent rebounding from the guard position, including a double-digit rebound game in a road win at Hillcrest on Nov. 30.”
