Oak Lawn Community High School’s Maeve Hassett had a senior year to remember on the volleyball court. She earned South Suburban Conference Red all-conference honors, Illinois Volleyball Coaches Association All-State Honorable Mention honors, and she made the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Best & Brightest First Team. Most recently, she was also named October Athlete of the Month at OLCHS.
Hassett helped the Spartans win the SSC Red championship and break a school record for wins. In October she tallied 155 assists in seven matches. She added 40 digs and 10 aces.
“Maeve was an exceptional leader on our team this year and played her best volleyball in October,” head coach Kathleen Miller said. “She was a spark plug four our team and made a tremendous impact on the court and helped mentor our younger players. Maeve will be greatly missed next season, but her impact on this program will be seen for years to come.”
