Stuff You Need to Know

This week is SPIRIT WEEK! The OLTP and SADD are teaming up to provide a bunch of fun things all week. SADD is hosting a spirit week raffle. Get a ticket every day in the media center if you are dressed in theme for a chance to win the $50 grand prize! The OLTP is hosting a candy raffle for tickets to see ROCK OF AGES this week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:00pm. Check it out at all the lunches every day this week. Join us all week in awareness and celebrating our fall musical.

WEDNESDAY: Team Stacee or Team Drew; Jersey Day or cowboys vs. rockstars 

High School can be stressful at times, today become a cowboy or rockstar to have some fun. 

THURSDAY: Pink Protest; Dress in pink to celebrate your favorite GIRLBOSS Anita 

It’s always important to stand up for what you believe in, today wear pink to express pride in yourself for your perseverance. 

FRIDAY: Don’t Stop Believin… in Spartans! Wear Green!

Believing in yourself is a big step in self-love. Take a second today to think about all of the things you appreciate about yourself.

MSA is hosting a YUMMY bake sale during all lunch periods starting Wednesday and running through Friday.  All proceeds will be going to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. You can also donate using the link. Lots of goodies to choose from. Thank you for your support!

Calling all Spooky Spartans! Do you like Fall, scary things, pumpkins, and ghouls? What about all things Halloween? Creative Writing Club is sponsoring the Halloween/Fall Poetry contest!

Submit your poem by TOMORROW Tuesday October 24th at 3pm to win 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place prizes for poems that will chill our spines! One entry per person, please! Please email your poem to Mrs. Razik [email protected] or Mrs. Madsen [email protected] by October 24th at 3pm to be eligible to win a prize.

Breakfast items are now available in the Spartan Lobby from 8:00am-8:25am and from 8:50am – 9:15am on Wednesdays. The price of the complete breakfast meal will either be Free, Reduced ($.30) or Paid ($3.50).  A complete breakfast meal includes one entrée and a minimum of one, up to two sides (unless otherwise marked). In addition to the complete meal, a la carte items such as breakfast bars, granola bars, etc. will also be available for purchase. Be ready to show your ID and please eat your breakfast BEFORE the start of your first period. Keep an eye out for the breakfast cart in the Spartan Lobby!

Ventra Cards are now available for sale in the Business Office, Room 123.  Cost is $2.00.  If you’ve already purchased a card online, please pick it up in the Business Office. Business Office hours are 7:30am – 3:30pm.  Plan accordingly! You will not be excused from class to pick up/purchase a card.

SADD - On Thursday, October 26, as part of the Red Ribbon Week activities, students are encouraged to stop by the table in the cafeteria to show their support of living a drug-free life. Temporary tattoos, wristbands, and other items will be available at no cost

Sophomores, juniors, and seniors – if you are considering the possibility of joining the military then you should sign up to take the ASVAB on Wednesday, November 8th. Please email or go down to see your counselor to get registered.

To attend a visit, please sign up to attend in Naviance. All passes must be approved in e-hall pass BEFORE reporting to the visit.

  • Thursday 10/26 - Lieb Elementary School is looking for Lieb alumni to come back and help at the Book Fair and Pizza Night
  • Friday 10/27 - Harnew Elementary School is hosting a Trunk-or-Treat and Hometown Elementary School is hosting Halloween BINGO on Friday 10/27.
  • Saturday 10/28 – Both Trinity Lutheran Church and the Hometown VFW are hosting a Trunk-or-Treat events

If you can’t attend without having to bring your sibling, then you should pick another event to volunteer for.

Boys Basketball -

Any Freshman Boys interested in Playing Basketball This Season: Boys Basketball tryouts are on Monday, November 6 and Tuesday, November 7! We will hold a short informational meeting followed by a freshman only open gym immediately after school TOMORROW Tuesday, October 24 in the Spartan Gym until 4:15. Any Upperclassmen (Classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026) interested in Playing Basketball This Season: Boys Basketball tryouts are on Monday, November 6 and Tuesday, November 7! Anyone interested in being a boys basketball manager this season: The Boys basketball program is looking for a few good managers to help with our teams this season. Coach Rhodes will meet with anyone interested in being a manager this year after school in the Student Services Office 117 on Wednesday, November 1st. We will discuss the role of a team manager and expectations for this position. If you have questions, email [email protected]

Boys Track - It's that time of year again, with track and field right around the corner. The boys track team will have a preseason interest meeting on November 16th in the Jr/Sr lounge after school. We will discuss the offseason schedule and the expectations for the preseason. Come join a winning culture. We are back-to-back indoor champions and took home the trophy last year for outdoor as well. We've had multiple events go all state and broken 4 school records in recent years. Girls Basketball - Attention all freshmen girls interested in trying out for basketball, there will be a freshmen only open gym on Wednesday, October 25th, at 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the Spartan Gym. Come on out and get ready for tryouts which will be held on Monday October 30th.

Girls’ basketball season is here! Anyone who is interested in playing this season, tryouts will begin on Monday, October 30th, in the Spartan Gym. Everyone trying out must have a current physical on file and must be registered on 8to18. The freshmen and JV tryouts will run from 3:30-5:30, and the varsity tryouts will run from 4:30-6:30. Let’s GO!!!!
