OAK LAWN BOYS GOLF TAKES SECOND AT SSC RED MEET

The Oak Lawn Community High School varsity boys golf team had a great showing at the South Suburban Conference Red meet Monday at Cog Hill. The Spartans finished second and had two players named as all-conference selections.

Junior Shane Mulcahy led the way with a fourth-place finish overall, and Jack Westin took seventh. It was a gutsy performance by the Spartans.

“I’m proud of the way the boys competed,” said head coach Shawn Neubauer. “They were able to overcome tough holes to get back on track and finish strong. They should be proud of a second-place finish behind a very talented Evergreen Park team.”

The junior varsity team won the SSC Red meet and had five players earn all-conference recognition. Payton Zegar finished first overall, John Olejniczak took second, Evan Rozhon was fifth, and Jack Dempsey and Diego Davila finished in tenth place.

“The JV team has been very strong all season,” Neubauer said. “Not only are they performing well on the course, but they are also representing themselves and the school very well. I look forward to seeing them improve next year at the varsity level.”
