After three years on the varsity cheer team at Oak Lawn Community High School, it might be easy to get complacent, but for Alexus Martinez it only means it is time to work even harder. That work ethic is proving to be crucial in her performance on the team.
“Alexus has been on our varsity squad since her freshman year,” said head coach Maria Vanderwarren. “She has improved throughout her three years in both motions and tumbling. She works hard and is determined to learn these complicated routines as fast as she can.”
“She is always willing to make adjustments and try new things if needed to better the squad as a whole. Her stunting ability has also improved, and she definitely will be an asset on our mat this competition season.”
