Versatile Freshman Maali Steps Up To Meet Challenge On Court

Moving up to the varsity level is a thrill for any high school athlete, moving up as a freshman can be overwhelming. For Oak Lawn Community High School’s Maali, playing on varsity volleyball was smooth as could be.
She started as an outside hitter and then moved to become a libero to help the team. Maali excelled in both roles, and the Spartans are excited for the next three years of competition with her on the court.
“Amina had an outstanding first season for us and grew tremendously throughout the season,” said head coach Kathleen Miller. “While playing as a freshman on varsity may be a daunting task for some, Amina was composed and consistent on the court. Amina proved her versatility and willingness to help the team. It is very exciting to have Amina in the program for three more years.”
The future of Oak Lawn volleyball looks bright, and Maali is certainly a shining star leading those Spartans to bigger and better things.
