Uriarte Takes Leadership Role For Spartan Cheerleaders

Practice, practice, and more practice, that is the approach senior Mia Uriarte takes for the Oak Lawn Community High School cheerleaders. And with that practice, she has improved her ability to complete complex stunts and really makes a difference on the mat in cheer competitions.
Her value to the team can be seen on the sidelines at football games and at halftime performances. What sets Uriarte apart is her willingness to lend a hand where needed to improve the team and the junior varsity team.
“Mia has been with our program since her freshman year,” said head coach Maria Vanderwarren. “She is very hard working, determined, and extremely dedicated to our team. She will never hesitate to help our JV squad as well as her varsity teammates with complex stunts that she has now become an expert with. We are fortunate to have her as part of our sideline cheer, and her excellent performance on the competition mat does not go unnoticed.”
