Stuff You Need to Know



OLCHS will be offering the PSAT test on Wednesday, October 11th. This is a great opportunity to practice for the SAT test. Registration is now open for all Juniors and Sophomores. Interested students should come with the $16 registration fee to the Student Services Office by September 21st.



Deadline for Freshman School physical’s and Senior proof of Meningococcal vaccine is October 13th. If not submitted by October 13th,  student will be excluded from school until forms are dropped off.



Welcome to College Week, Spartans!  There are several activities happening this week to help you plan for after high school:

  • College & Career Fair - Thursday 9/24, pds. 2-4 in the Spartan Gym.  Over 60 college, military, union trade and specialty schools will be set up in the Spartan Gym.  See posters in the hallways and stairwells for the list of attendees and info on how to sign up to attend.
  • Spartan Plus with a Professional – Are you interested in a career in law enforcement?  Come find out what it takes to join the Chicago Police Department.  Officers will review requirements to apply and how to prepare for the entrance/placement exam.

Need service hours?  There are several opportunities around Oak Lawn this weekend, including Westside Baseball, St. Gerald Athletics and a special call for volunteers to help with children’s activities at the annual St. Linus Hawktoberfest on Saturday night.  For complete info and to sign up for any of these volunteer opportunities, please see the Service Learning calendar, accessible through the school website and/or your iTunes U seminar course.


Club/Team News


Spartan Screamers. Do you have school spirit? Do you want to get the crowd going? Become the OLCHS Mascot! Multiple students are needed. Appearances at athletic events, pep rallies, club activities, some special events. Mascot duties include:  throwing t-shirts during events, getting crowds loud and crazy.
