Stuff You Need to Know
SADD: Red Ribbon Week is a major force for raising awareness and mobilizing communities to combat alcohol, drug and tobacco abuse. SADD is helping to raise awareness with our fellow spartans. According to the Substance Abuse and mental health services administration, there is a clear link between depression and substance abuse. 32.7% of teens who used illicit drugs in the last year had a major depressive episode. If you ever need help contact a trusted teacher or school staff member, or see Mr. Brida in room 108.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month the Junior Class Advisory Board will be selling pink socks, wristbands and temporary tattoos during all lunch periods from now until Friday October 25th.
Attention seniors , now is the time to order your senior gear! Orders are open now through all of October, the shop closes October 31st. You can order and make payments online or through the media center. Show your spartan pride by wearing a class of 2020 t-shirt, long sleeve, sweatshirt, sweatpants, or even windbreaker! Order now! Thursday, 10/24 – Michigan Technological University, pd. 2 and Lewis University, pd. 5/6
Friday, 10/25 – Aquinas College, pd. 2 and Northwestern University, pd. 5/6
Students interested in attending these visits should sign up in Naviance no later than 24 hours before the visit.
Need service hours? There are several great opportunities coming up!
- Be a course monitor and/or pass out water at the St. Gerald Pumpkin Run 5K this Saturday morning
- Prepare sandwiches for the homeless with the Knights of Columbus this Saturday
- Help with kids activities at the Harnew Trunk or Treat next Wednesday
- Help at the St. Gerald Craft Show next Friday and Saturday

Boys’ Bowling. Boys Bowling tryouts are Monday! If you are interested in trying out you must come to a mandatory informational meeting TODAY, at 3:05 PM in Room 28. If you have an after-school conflict you should have seen Coach Walery already, so stop by Room 28. Go Spartans! #olchspride

Girls’ Track & Field. Ladies, the time has come to dust off your running shoes and begin our preseason workouts. Have you ever wondered how fast you can run, how high you can jump, or how far you can throw? There will be a meeting after school for all new and old athletes on Monday November 4th in the Junior/Senior Lounge. We will discuss days, times, and expectations of preseason. The preseason workouts start on November 18th and you must have an updated physical on file. Please stop by room 211 for additional information if you cannot make the meeting.
Student Leadership Conference. All students who plan on attending the Student Leadership Conference, signed field trip forms are due to Mrs. Sidlow in the Media Center by 3pm Friday. Absolutely no late forms will be accepted. Make your club or team proud- please don't miss this worthwhile opportunity.
