2nd Semester Drivers Education Students - Permit testing will begin Monday October 24th during Spartan Plus. Please check your skyward email for your invite. Please make sure to start preparing and studying for your rules of the road test. This test needs to be passed for you to be issued a permit from the State of Illinois.

Calling all talented students - Talent Show auditions are being held on October 19 and 20. The Talent Show is Thursday, November 17. Check your email for links to sign up for auditions. 

Fall/Halloween Poetry ContestThe OLCHS Spartan Creative Writing Club presents… A Fall/Halloween Poetry Contest!  Send us your original poetry about Fall or Halloween.  Entries are due by Friday, October 21, 2022 @ midnight.  The prize for “Best Poem” is a $10 Amazon Gift Card and a bag of Jolly Ranchers.  Please check your student e-mail for our contest flyer with details.  Entries should be e-mailed to  Two entries per person.

Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors - Would you like to serve your country and get a career?  Sign up for Mrs. Szala’s spartan plus.  Sgt. Lewis and Dr. Gordon-Fletcher will be here to educate you about the ASVAB and careers in the military. Look for “Szala” in arena scheduling to sign up.

Cafeteria – Just a reminder…. You MUST have an ID in order to get breakfast and lunch from the cafeteria. If you do not have your ID with you, go to on your iPad and login with your school Google account. A QR code for the website is available near each cashier. If you receive a message that you don’t have a photo, please go to the Media Center to have a photo taken and get your ID printed.  
Tech Help - If you’re having trouble logging into your classes or having any other tech issues, please email for tech assistance. If possible, include a screen shot of your issue.

College Rep Visits

Representatives from the following schools will be visiting OLCHS this week:

Wednesday, 10/19 – St. Ambrose University, pd. 4/5 Knox College, pd. 9
Thursday, 10/13 – Roosevelt University, pd. 4/5 and National Louis University, pd. 9
To attend a visit, please sign up to attend in Naviance. All passes must be approved in e-hall pass.

Club/Team News

Black Student Union - Join the Black Student Union this Thursday, October 20, at 6PM in the Little Theater for Movie Night. We will watch Annie (2014). All OLCHS students are welcome! Hope to see you there! 

International Club - International Club is meeting today after school in room 357.

Theater - Mamma Mia! Here we go again! Do you love Abba? Maybe you want to watch a funny romance? Then you’re in luck! The Oak Lawn Theater program is putting on “Mamma Mia!”, and you all have a chance to win 2 free tickets! We are selling tickets everyday this week, during all lunch periods and announcing winners at the end of each lunch period. One dollar gets you 1 ticket into the raffle and five dollars gets your six chances to win! Good luck :)

Athletic News

The winter athletic season is right around the corner! Registration is now open for all students that would like to tryout for a winter sport. Winter sports include Boys Bowling, Competitive Cheerleading, Competitive Dance, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Wrestling, Girls Bowling, and Boys Swim & Dive. Tryout dates for each individual program vary. Please check your email for directions on how to register, or head to the OLCHS Athletics web page for more information.

Boys Bowlers - Attention all Spartan Boys Bowlers: We are days away from tryouts! Meet in the Spartan Lobby at 3:05 on Monday, 10/24/2022. We will ride the bus to Palos Lanes. Two questions: #1 Do you have an updated physical in the Athletic Office? #2 Are you registered for tryouts on 8to18? See Coach Walery in Room 28 or Coach Mueller in Room 213 with any questions.
