Stuff You Need to Know

OLCHS will be hosting a community blood drive this Saturday, October 15 from 9AM – 3PM in gym 127.  All students, staff, and community members are welcome to attend.  Donating blood saves lives.  Please consider coming out.  All OLCHS students will receive 1 service hour for a donation. 

THIS FRIDAY is the last day all freshmen must provide the health office with their ninth grade physical examination and record of vaccinations before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. Additionally, all seniors must provide the health office a copy of their meningococcal vaccine record before October 15th to prevent being excluded from school. These two requirements are state mandated. Please stop by the nurse’s office if you have any questions.

Help those in need! Donate to the Evergreen Park Food Pantry. Items needed are:

  • Small liquid laundry detergent
  • Paper towels
  • Toilet paper
  • Canned goods
  • Cereal

Fall/Halloween Poetry ContestThe OLCHS Spartan Creative Writing Club presents… A Fall/Halloween Poetry Contest!  Send us your original poetry about Fall or Halloween.  Entries are due by Friday, October 21, 2022 @ midnight.  The prize for “Best Poem” is a $10 Amazon Gift Card and a bag of Jolly Ranchers.  Please check your student e-mail for our contest flyer with details.  Entries should be e-mailed to  Two entries per person.

Calling all talented students: Talent Show auditions are being held on October 19 and 20. The Talent Show is Thursday, November 17. Check your email for links to sign up for auditions. 

Cafeteria – Just a reminder…. You MUST have an ID in order to get breakfast and lunch from the cafeteria. If you do not have your ID with you, go to on your iPad and login with your school Google account. A QR code for the website is available near each cashier. If you receive a message that you don’t have a photo, please go to the Media Center to have a photo taken and get your ID printed.

College Visits

Representatives from the following schools will be visiting OLCHS this week:
Thursday, 10/13 – University of Notre Dame, pd. 10
Friday, 10/14 – Drake University, pd. 2
To attend a visit, please sign up to attend in Naviance. All passes must be approved in e-hall pass.

Athletic News

The winter athletic season is right around the corner! Registration is now open for all students that would like to tryout for a winter sport. Winter sports include Boys Bowling, Competitive Cheerleading, Competitive Dance, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Wrestling, Girls Bowling, and Boys Swim & Dive. Tryout dates for each individual program vary. Please check your email for directions on how to register, or head to the OLCHS Athletics web page for more information.
