HAPPY TEEN READ WEEK! To celebrate, the Media Center is hosting special activities for students and staff all week. Today is a Open Gaming during Spartan Plus. Join your friends for Smash Brothers, Overwatch, treats and more during the extended time!
TODAY is the Girls’ Volleyball Pink Out game! Wear pink to school to show your support! Sophomores play at 4:30 and varsity plays at 5:30 against Tinley Park.
This Friday is Senior Night for the Spartan football team. Come cheer on your seniors in the last home game of the season against Tinley Park. The freshmen start the week at Tinley on Thr at 430. The JV and Varsity kick off Senior Night Friday at 430 & 7.

Admissions reps from the following schools will be visiting this week:
Thursday, 10/11 - University of South Alabam, pd. 2 and University of Denver, pd. 10
Friday, 10/12 – University of Alabama, pd. 2 and Lincoln College, pd. 5/6
Please see or email Mrs. Kenny for a pass to attend any of these visits at least one day before the visit. Seniors who have these schools saved in Career Cruising will automatically receive a pass to attend.
Need service hours? There are TONS of opportunities coming up over the next two weekends:
- This Saturday, 10/13 – volunteer at Our Lady of the Ridge Food Pantry, the Cook County Forest Preserve, the Village of Oak Lawn eWaste Recycling, and/or St. Gerald School
- Next Saturday, 10/20 –volunteer at the PTSA Craft Fair here at OLCHS, the St. Gerald Craft Fair and/or the Oak Lawn Park District Spookville event
- During the week in the evenings, volunteer at St. Gerald, Oak Lawn Special Recreation, Sertoma Centre’s “Paint it Forward” event, and/or participate in volunteer orientation at the Children’s Museum of Oak Lawn

Seniors – don’t forget that in order to be eligible for the PTSA Scholarship, you must volunteer at one of their events during your senior year! Sign up with Mrs. Kenny!
Student Council & Screamers invite you to join TEAM SPARTAN at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K on Saturday, October 20th in downtown Chicago. The bus leaves OLCHS at 8:15am. All members of the Spartan Family (including your parents) are welcome! Get a permission form in the Media Center TODAY. Signed forms and $20 donation to American Cancer Society are due Oct 17.
Swimming/Diving. For anyone interested in swimming or diving during the 2018-2019 season, there will be an informational meeting after school from 3:15-3:45 in Room 365 on Tuesday, October 16th. All interested athletes are welcome regardless of their swimming or diving experience. Please see Coach Reiff or Coach Maciaga or Coach Wagner if you cannot attend.
Vegan/Vegetarian Discussion Group: There is a new Vegan/Vegetarian discussion group that is looking for interested students! The purpose of this group is to provide OLCHS vegetarians and vegans with an opportunity to meet and socialize with other vegetarians and vegans. Activities include vegan potlucks, film sessions, related games and activities, and whatever else our members suggest.
Meetings are with Mr. Brida MONDAYS after school in room 108!
