Stuff You Need to Know

This week’s word of the week is cairn.

A cairn is a mound of stones erected as a memorial or marker.

“The friends built a cairn on the beach before going home to remember the fun and the

books they had read that day.”

Students participating in Shadow Day.

Shadow Days are coming up soon!  If your brother or sister is planning on coming to school with you please remind them to turn in their permission slips to Office 126.  Also, in order to host an 8th grader, YOU MUST ATTEND the Shadow Day Meeting on Wednesday, November 15th.  This meeting will take place right after school in the Jr. Sr. Lounge.  All students participating must attend, NO exceptions.  The meeting will be very brief so please make arrangements to be there if you want to participate.  This meeting is NOT FOR STUDENT HELPERS!  Student Helpers are meeting on a different date that has been communicated to them already.  Please do not ask to leave a class to see us regarding Shadow Days.  See Mrs. Schumacher or Mrs. Meierkort in Student Services before or after school with questions.

Representatives from the following schools will be visiting OLCHS this week:

Monday, 11/6/18 – University of IL at Urbana-Champaign, pd. 10

Tuesday, 11/7/17 – Illinois College, pd. 5/6

Wednesday 11/8/17 – Grand Canyon University, pd. 10

Students interested in attending either of these visits should add the school to their Career Cruising plan, or see/email Mrs. Kenny for a pass.
