Stuff You Need to Know

National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week is a health observance week for teens that aims to SHATTER THE MYTHS about drug and alcohol use. Did you know? 15 to 17 year olds are SIXTEEN times more likely to use a juul compared to those aged 25-34. Students Against Destructive Decisions invites you to raise awareness with us on Tuesdays, after school with Mr. Brida in room 108.

Students, how would you like to turn your Spartan Plus into a pizza party? Mrs. Lee, social worker, is looking for 10-15 students who are willing to take part in a focus group to help improve social emotional learning curriculum to teach teens about suicide prevention and signs of depression. This is an activity initiated by Elyssa’s Mission, a suicide prevention group. All students are welcome and will be rewarded for their time with a pizza party. Students must have parent permission to attend. If you are interested, stop in the counseling office to see Mrs. Lee for a permission form or email her at elee@olchs.org. Thanks!

Are you a freshman student already 15 years old, or a freshman student who’s 15th birthday will be before May 30th of 2019? If so, you qualify for summer school drivers education here at OLCHS. The drivers education department has 60 seats available, and you will need to register for the class with your counselors at sophomore registration. The drivers education department is going to be hosting two Spartan plus sessions at the end of January to discuss our class, so please sign up if you are interested. If you have any questions, please visit the drivers ed office, room 281 anytime before the start of the school day.
