Find the flag has come to OLCHS! This week, as part of global society festival, ten flags have been hidden throughout classrooms and school offices. If you are one of the lucky students who finds a flag this week – please return the flag to Mrs. Wong in Room 355 AFTER SCHOOL to claim your prize! Happy Searching!

Admissions reps from the following schools will be visiting OLCHS this week:

                University of IL at Springfield – Wed. 1/24, pd. 8/9

                Purdue University Northwest – Thurs. 1/25, pd. 2

Students interested in attending these visits should see or email Mrs. Kenny for a pass. Juniors who have these schools saved in their Career Cruising plan will automatically receive a pass to attend.



Club/Team News


This weekend, the Oak Lawn Speech Team attended the 2 day DGS Varsity Speech Tournament.  We had 11 people break into Semifinals and 4 advance to Finals.

Abby Moore was the Tournament Champion in Special Occassion Speaking, Freshman Alondra Camacho placed 4th in Oratorical Declamation, Bianca Honeycutt took 5th place in Dramatic Interp, and Hanna Harris took 5th place in Original Comedy.

Additionally, the following students were semi finalists in their events:


- Jada Jackson and Bianca Honeycutt in Humorous Duet Acting

- Jon McLawhorn and Hanna Harris in Humorous Duet Acting

- Jon McLawhorn and Abby Moore in Dramatic Duet Acting

- Tyler Orel and Alyssa Bitner in Dramatic Duet Acting

- Moises Bello in Radio Speaking and Original Oratory, and

- Kendallyn Julkowski in Impromptu Speaking


The team took 6th overall at the biggest invitational tournament of the year! All of the coaches are incredibly proud of the great teamwork shown by all the team’s members. The team will compete at the season’s last invitational tournament this Saturday before gearing up for Regionals.
