Stuff You Need to Know



All Seniors…

There will be a senior meeting held in the Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, January 22 for ALL SENIORS. Cap and Gown measurements will be submitted during this meeting. We will also discuss upcoming events and dates including graduation information. Please report to the Performing Arts Center immediately after 2nd period.



Come on out to watch the 2nd and final round of the Social Studies Bee in the Performing Arts Center during Spartan Plus on Thursday.  You can sign up now through arena scheduling and see Sami Osmani,Samantha Welninski, Matelda Sweis, Matthew Plutz, Pablo Macias, Martin Sheehan, James Fetzer, Lucas Sodaro, Amin Al-Ashqar, and Cesar Vazquez compete to be the top Social Studies student at OLCHS. 


National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week is a health observance week for teens that aims to SHATTER THE MYTHS about drug and alcohol use.

 "A recent study showed that people who started smoking marijuana heavily in their teens and continued to use it lost an average of 8 IQ points between the ages of 13 and 38. Students Against Destructive Decisions invites you to raise awareness with us on Tuesdays, after school with Mr. Brida in room 108.



Are you a freshman student already 15 years old, or a freshman student who’s 15th birthday will be before May 30th of 2019? If so, you qualify for summer school drivers education here at OLCHS. The drivers education department has 60 seats available, and you will need to register for the class with your counselors at sophomore registration. The drivers education department is going to be hosting two Spartan plus sessions at the end of January to discuss our class, so please sign up if you are interested. If you have any questions, please visit the drivers ed office, room 281 anytime before the start of the school day.



Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors - Are you asking “How do I sign up for the Open House Electives during Spartan Plus sections?” It’s easy! Go to Arena Scheduling and Filter by the subject, “Other” and scroll down for all the sections that start with the word “OPEN.” Then click Add next to the one you want to attend. Or you can filter by the teacher’s name. We hope to see you there!



Club/ Team News


Girls’ Badminton. If you are interested in playing badminton this spring, but missed the informational meeting, please stop by room 212 to talk to Coach Zwirkoski and get the information.

Also – open gyms continue this week. There next open gym is TOMORROW, Wednesday, January 23rd from 5:30-7:30 in gym 10. Rackets will be provided. Hope to see you there. There is no open gym Friday due to the PTSA family night – although they will have badminton available.
