Good Morning Spartans! The annual JCAB Lock-In will be held on TOMORROW Saturday, February 25th from 6-10 PM here at the school. We will be hosting open gyms, athletic tournaments, an open pool, video gaming, movies, concessions, and more! Tickets for this event will be sold ONLINE ONLY for $10 through the Webstore at https://olchs.revtrak.net/activities-and-clubs/jcab/. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Only OLCHS students may attend. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to support Gigi's Playhouse of Tinley Park. The theme for this year's Lock-In is "pajama party". Wear your most comfortable jammies. All grade levels are invited, so bring your friends and we’ll see you there!
Each day during Black History Month, the Black Student Union will share information about an individual who has made significant contributions to American history and culture.
February 24 Born April 4, 1928, Maya Angelou was a singer, dancer, actor, composer, educator, playwright, essayist, poet, and Hollywood’s first female Black director. A civil rights activist, she worked with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. For her work, she was awarded over 50 honorary degrees and was recognized by two U.S. Presidents: Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. She once wrote, “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” She is most famous for her memoir “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.” That book and several of her books of poetry are available for checkout in the Media Center!
Cafeteria – Just a reminder…. You MUST have an ID in order to get breakfast and lunch from the cafeteria. If you do not have your ID with you, go to myid.olchs.org on your iPad and login with your school Google account. A QR code for the myid.olchs.org website is available near each cashier. If you receive a message that you don’t have a photo, please go to the Media Center to have a photo taken and get your ID printed.

Athletic News
The spring athletic season is right around the corner! Registration is now open for all students that would like to tryout for a spring sport. Spring sports include Baseball, Softball, Girls Soccer, Boys Tennis, Badminton, and Boys Volleyball. Additionally, the Boys and Girls Track & Field season has already started but both teams are still taking new members. Try out dates for each individual program vary. Please check your email for directions on how to register, or head to the OLCHS Athletics web page for more information.
Badminton - Badminton tryouts begin MONDAY, February 27th in gym 10. All freshman report 3:15-5:15. Sophomores, juniors, seniors 5:15-7:15. Bring gym shoes and wear athletic clothing. Rackets will be available to borrow for tryouts. Any questions? See Coach LaSpina, Coach Shafer, or Coach Bielski
Girls Soccer - The girls’ soccer season is quickly approaching, with try outs February 27th. Pre-season conditioning and open gyms have started. Workouts next week Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Please join the All Girls Soccer Remind with the code @4d8fa for more information on dates and times.
Water Polo - The Water Polo Club is starting up again! We will have an informational meeting after school on Monday, February 27th from 3:30pm-4:00pm on the pool deck. This is a co-ed club, so boys and girls can both join.
