Black History Month: Black Achievement
Each day during Black History Month, the Black Student Union will share information on a topic or person. This week’s theme is Black Achievement.
Amariyanna “Mari” Copeny was only eight years old when she wrote a letter to former President Barack Obama regarding the Flint, Michigan water crisis. She successfully met with him and the federal government became aware of the issue. Without Mari’s demand for change, the town would’ve never been granted a $100 million in 2016 to eradicate the problem.  She grew a large platform in support of her activism that she still uses today to advocate for human rights.
