Stuff You Need to Know

Juniors and Seniors.  Did you miss the deadline to register for the September ACT?  There is still time to register for the October 1st SAT.  The SAT is also used by college admissions as a college entrance exam.  Students can register on the College Board website,  The deadline to register for the October 1st SAT is September 1st.  Don’t wait to sign up.  See your counselor if you need help registering.

Did you volunteer this summer?  Any service hours that were earned over the summer are due to Mrs. Kenny this Friday, 8/26.  Summer hours turned in after this date will not be credited!  Students can turn their hours in to Mrs. Kenny directly or to the mailbox outside Student Services Office 117.


Club/Team News

Drama. Have you ever wanted to have a good time, make new friends, and be a part of a successful program? Well the musical sounds right for you! This year’s musical will be "Spamalot" a musical adaptation of the movie "Monty Python and the Holy Grail!" The auditions are today August 24th at 6 in the little theatre for freshman and conflicts, and Thursday August 25th at 3 for everyone else! Hope to see you at auditions!

Fishing Team. Fishing Team to will be having its first meeting of the year on Thursday at 3:10 in room 372.

Creative Writing Club. Are you a creative person who is looking for a way to express yourself and meet some really great people?  If so, the Spartan Creative Writing Club is the club for you!  The Spartan Creative Writing Club creates the Oak Lawn High School Literary Magazine which is filled with poems, artwork, and short stories created by our very own students.  We are always looking for talented individuals who are looking to share their creative expressions.  Our first meeting will be held today, August 24, 2016, after school in room 258.  Hope to see you soon!

JCAB. The first Junior Class Advisory Board is TODAY in room 223.

We hope to see LOTS of juniors in attendance. :)

Mathletes. Any students interested in joining Mathletes, there will be a brief meeting after school today, August 24th in Rm. 219.

Yearbook. There will be extremely important Yearbook meeting today,  August 23rd at 3:05 in room 366. See Mr. DiFilippo in 366 if you have any questions.

Senior Class Advisory Board. Want to make a difference in your senior year? Attend the Senior class advisory board today at 3:10 in room 107.

Crew. Do you like to build, paint, and design?  Would you like to learn how?  How about running lights or sound?  Ever consider becoming a make-up artist?  If you answered yes to any of these crew is for you.  Crew is the behind the scenes group for the musical.  There will be an informational meeting on Monday August 29 in the Little Theater.  Construction will begin on Tuesday August 30.  Everyone is welcome to join and No Experience is Necessary.

Art Club.  Meeting in room 238 right after school.

Spartan Screamers. Interested in spreading school spirit and Spartan pride all over OLCHS? The Pep Club and Spartan Screamers have joined forces.  Some activities include a fan section at home and away events, hosting team dinners, homecoming week involvement, participating in Pep Assemblies…. Plus so much more!  If interested, please attend our first meeting today, August 24 at 3:30 in room 119.  If you cannot make the meeting and are interested in joining or have any additional questions, contact Spartan Screamers Sponsors Mrs. Vanderwarren or Mrs. Menard.

Baseball. There will be a baseball meeting today, Aug 24, for all students interested in fall workouts. Athletes in a fall sport should not attend. Meeting will be at 3:10 in r27.

Boys’ XC. Still haven’t joined a fall sport but still looking to get involved? Why not join the Boys’ Cross Country team! Being part of the Boys’ Cross Country team will provide you with an opportunity to be competitive, get in shape, show your Spartan Pride, and achieve things you never thought you could! We will have an interest meeting this today right after school in room 203. No previous running experience required. Come out and be part of a fun and exciting team.
