Stuff You Need to Know

Following the Heroes Night Basketball game back in February between Reavis and Oak Lawn, a scholarship has been set up in the names of the two fallen police officers. One will be given out to a Reavis senior, and one to an Oak Lawn senior. The scholarship is for $1000 and we are now seeking applications. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher, planning to pursue a career in law enforcement, and extra consideration will be given to student-athletes and/or students involved in extracurricular activities. If you are interested in applying for the scholarship, applications can be picked up in the Athletic Office. Completed applications are due by Friday, May 10th.

Permit packet pickup will begin today,  Tuesday April 30th and Wednesday May 1st from 8am-8:25am. Please come to the drivers ed room 281 with your student ID to pick up your materials. If you have any questions, please see a DE staff member.

The Pink Out game raised money for the Karen Janecek Scholarship. If you are a senior who's family has been affected by breast cancer, you are eligible to apply for this scholarship. See the posters in the hallways or Mrs. Meyers in the Media Center for more information. The deadline to apply is May 3rd.

Need service hours?  There are several opportunities happening this week:

  • Play with kids during the Hometown Elementary PTA meeting on Thursday evening
  • No school Friday… make meals for senior citizens at the Hometown Community Café instead!
  • Pack care packages for Mrs. Jacky’s Soldiers this Friday night at the Oak View Center
  • Like animals? Volunteer at the Chicagoland Pet Show this Saturday and Sunday

Complete details about these events and more can be found on the Service Learning calendar, accessible through your iTunes U Seminar course and/or the OLCHS website.
