Stuff You Need to Know

Celebrating National Arab Americans Heritage Month:

Today is the last day in the National Arab Americans Heritage Month. Here is some information about: Traditional Arabic clothes. Each Arabic-speaking country has very different and special clothes unlike other countries. Each country has a specific culture that has its own clothes which helps them in their everyday life. For example:

In Yemen, men wear Foutah, madraah, Kufiah, and dagger while women wear long dress called Abayah, Nicab and hijab. In south Egypt, men wear jilbab, qoftaan, and ammah while women wear long dresses called jilbaab with tarhaah ( hijab) and lots of golden accessories . In Palestine, me wear a hatah and kufiah while women wear Palestinian dress called thoub. In Morocco, men wear men's thob and leather yellow boots.

تتميز كل دولة عربية بالزي التقليدي المختلف عن بقية البلدان الأخرى. كل دولة عربية لها زي خاص يتناسب مع طبيعتها البيئية والجغرافية.

مثلاً: في اليمن يلبس الرجال فوطة، ومدرعة، ومشدة، وخنجر. وتلبس النساء العباية والبرقع والجلباب. وفي جنوب مصر يرتدي الرجال الجلباب والقفطان والعمة وترتدي النساء الجلابية والطرحة والكردان. وفي فلسطين يلبس الرجال الحطة والكوفية وتلبس النساء الثوب. وفي المغرب يلبس الرجال الجلباب والخف الجلدي الأصفر.

Drivers Education: Any student who is 15 years old by May 15th is eligible for summer school drivers education. The department still has seats open. Please talk to your guidance counselor for more information if you are interested.

Summer School Drivers Education Students: Permits have arrived. Please come to room 281 today and Tuesday during Spartan Plus with your student ID to pick up your permit. Please sign up for Spartan Plus DE classroom in arena scheduling in skyward.

Prom - Attention Juniors and Seniors.  Prom 2022 is coming soon.  It will take place on Friday, May 6th from 7pm-11pm at the Bolingbrook Golf Club.  This year's theme is, "Time of Our Lives".  Tickets are $75 per person and CAN ONLY BE PURCHASED ONLINE.  Ticket sales will run through Friday, April 29th, but don't wait until the last minute.

More information about ticket purchasing and guest requirements can be found in your email, or on the school website.  Please read this information carefully.

This will be the first, traditional Prom we've had in years.  It is going to be an exciting and memorable time.  We hope that you can make it.

Post-Prom Cruise - Attention! Last week of sales! Post-Prom Cruise Tickets are ON SALE ($35)! THIS IS YOUR LAST WEEK TO PURCHASE TICKETS. Please visit the webstore to purchase your tickets, or buy them with cash in the main office. A field trip form must be completed and submitted to the office after you pay. Reminder, all attendees MUST attend prom, and MUST take the bus transportation provided by OLCHS both to the cruise, and back to OLCHS.

Senior Grad Nite - Six Flag Grad Nite is on sale until April 30th. Don't miss out. Tickets are available in the OLCHS webstore, and permission slips need to be completed in your senior canvas course. 

Cafeteria – Just a reminder….Please have your ID’s out and ready to scan when getting breakfast and lunch every day.

Dance Team: Hello Spartans! Are you interested in dancing? Ms. Marcotte and Ms. Brandt will be hosting Spartan Dance Team tryouts for the 2022-23 school year on May 4th and 5th from 6-8:30 pm.
