Stuff You Need to Know

To all Fall 2023 Drivers Ed students: Students please check your skyward email. The DE department sent you a welcome email with information about your permit test that will take place the week of May 1st during Spartan Plus. This email will contain a link to the study guide so you can prepare for your test. All Students will be required to attend Mon, Tues, and Thursday next week.

The Creamery Ice-Cream Truck is coming back to OLCHS TODAY Thursday, April 27th during all lunch periods.  Many specialty items including a sundae bar, colossal cookies, ice cream sandwiches and other treats will be sold.  Prices range between $4.00-$8.00.  Both cash, credit, & Apple Pay will be accepted.  Be a part of something sweet—this is ice-cream you won’t forget!

Project Fire Buddies t-shirts will be sold in the cafeteria this week during all lunches for $15 ea.  Get them now and wear to Fridays pep rally where you will learn more about the program.  There will even be some fun Firemen vs. Students relays and games. 

Juniors and Seniors… it is time to celebrate!  Prom is Saturday, May 6th at Bolingbrook Golf Club from 7-11pm.  This year’s theme is “The Night Is Still Young”.  Tickets are $80 per person.  They are being sold online through the Webstore TOMORROW Friday April 28th.  No tickets will be sold at the door.

OLCHS students and guests must show a valid ID, and their e-mailed ticket receipt, to enter the dance.  Guest forms are available in both the Dean’s and Main offices.  Completed guest forms must be returned to the Deans’ office no later than April 28th.  Guest tickets can then be purchased online from May 1st-3rd. More information about ticket purchasing and guest requirements can be found in your Prom email, or on the school website.  Please read this information carefully.

Attention Prom-goers, If you are intending to bring a guest to Prom, you must submit a Guest Request Form for approval to the Deans’ Office no later TOMORROW Friday April 28th.  Guest forms will not be accepted after that date.  Forms are available in the Main Office (Rm. 126) and the Deans’ Office (Rm. 122).

Cafeteria – Just a reminder…. You MUST have an ID in order to get breakfast and lunch from the cafeteria. If you do not have your ID with you, go to myid.olchs.org on your iPad and login with your school Google account. A QR code for the myid.olchs.org website is available near each cashier. If you receive a message that you don’t have a photo, please go to the Media Center to have a photo taken and get your ID printed.  
 
Tech Help - If you’re having trouble logging into your classes or having any other tech issues, please email ipadsupport@olchs.org for tech assistance. If possible, include a screen shot of your issue.

Are you interested in a career in the Medical field?  There’s so much more than becoming a doctor or nurse!  Join Mrs. Kenny and OLCHS alum Tasneem Jaber this Friday to learn about the many opportunities available to you in medical research and medical laboratory science.  Sign up in Skyward by filtering Student Services, then Kenny.

Club/Team News

Are you interested in theatre but don’t know where to start? Want to try being in a cast or crew with low commitment? Then try-out for the 24-Hour musical, Grease the Musical! We’ll be putting on this production in just one day! Auditions are Friday May 12th and the show is Saturday May 13th. This is a lock in!  Bring a friend too! Anyone who is interested in being a part of the show is IN! You don’t have to be a lead role, you can come and just experience what a musical is like in a low pressure, super fun, and unique short-term production.  For more information, see Mrs. Elliott in room 104, or send an email to selliott@olchs.org. Theater - Interested in learning more about our Award-Winning Speech and Theatre programs? Want to see what being in a production is like? Then come on down to the info meeting May 4th at 3:00 in room 104! Learn about our musical and speech seasons, as well as our brand new 24-hour musical coming up! No experience required!

Athletic News

The Sully Shuffle Foundation is excited to offer the Skip Sullivan Athletic Scholarship. The foundation will award two $1,000 scholarships to one male and one female senior multi-sport athlete.

The scholarship’s namesake is an OLCHS alumni who was a multi-sport athlete as a student and returned to his alma mater to serve as both a teacher and coach for over 40 years. 

Please use this form to review eligibility requirements and to apply for the scholarship. You must also have one recommendation from a coach.

The deadline to apply is April 28th. Please see Mrs. Meyers in the Media Center if you have any questions.

Dance Team - Are you interested in trying out for the dance team for the 2023-24 school year? An audition clinic (prep class) will be held on Friday April 28th in the dance studio at 6pm to introduce dance technique to students interested in trying out. The official dance team auditions will be held May 3rd and 4th in the dance studio at 6 pm. Friday May 5th at 3:30 is allocated for students who cannot attend May 4th's audition date. Wrestling - There will be a brief informational meeting regarding summer wrestling TOMORROW Thursday April 27th in room 225 at 3:10-3:30 If you have any questions, please see Coach Early.
