This week is Climate Week, and the Social Studies Department would like to highlight a Global Climate fact each day leading up to Earth Day this Friday, the 22nd:

Today's Global Climate Fact of the Day comes from NASA's website for Global Climate Change and discusses our seas. Global sea level rose about 8 inches (20 centimeters) in the last century. The rate in the last two decades, however, is nearly double that of the last century and accelerating slightly every year. Another concerning factor in our seas is the acidification levels. Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, the acidity of surface ocean waters has increased by about 30%. This increase is the result of humans emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and hence more being absorbed into the ocean. The ocean has absorbed between 20% and 30% of total anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions in recent decades.

Thanks everyone and stay tuned for tomorrow's Global Climate Fact of the Day.

Save the date! On Monday, April 25th look forward to a bake sale with cookies, cupcakes, and more. All proceeds will go to Save the Children, an organization that helps children affected by the war in the Ukraine. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Lee or Mrs. Rafferty.

Drivers Education: Any student who is 15 years old by May 15th is eligible for summer school drivers education. The department still has seats open. Please talk to your guidance counselor for more information if you are interested.

Fall Semester Drivers Ed students - On Monday April 25th, please report to the PAC for permit testing during Spartan Plus.  Please study for the rules of the road test before the April 25th. The study guide can be found at the Illinois Secretary of state’s website under the driver’s education tab.
