Last Saturday at the South Suburban Conference Red boys bowling meet, Oak Lawn Community High School was consistent and on fire all day long. It was this consistency that helped the Spartans average 1,060 per game and eventually led to an SSC Red championship. In all they scored a 6,360.
Ramiro Garcia led the way finishing third overall. In fact, in the fifth game, Garcia hit eleven strikes in a row and was just two pins away from recording a perfect 300 game, finishing with a 298. Steven Hebel finished fifth overall, and Logan Wendt was sixth. All three of them were named as All-Conference Bowlers.
Domas Rasymas, Sam Bergamo, Brandon Mariano and Julian Amador also bowled well for the Spartans. It was truly a strong performance by the entire team.
“Consistency and picking up spares are what made the difference,” said head coach Kevin Walery. “If we continue to bowl like this next week [at the regional], we should be in good shape to get to the Illinois High School Association Sectional.”
The Spartans will roll against Richards, Evergreen Park, Eisenhower, Shepard, Stagg, Brother Rice, Marist, and Chicago Christian at Skyway Bowl this Saturday in the IHSA Regional. Oak Lawn certainly has its sights set on qualifying for the sectional.
