Spartans Prepare For Homecoming “There's No Place Like Home”

Homecoming

OLCHS prepares for its annual homecoming spirit week by announcing its theme: There’s No Place Like Home.  This theme honors all the athletic teams who will be playing home contests the week of September 23.

In preparation, students will vote for their court which is comprised of outstanding juniors and seniors nominated by sports teams and extracurricular clubs.  Students will also decorate doors and windows and get into the spirit each day beginning Friday, September 20, Home Run Day, when everyone is encouraged to wear your favorite Chicago Sports Jersey.

Starting Monday, September 23, 2019, Student Council planned a busy, fun week filled with spirit-themed days and activities culminating with the football game and dance.  On Monday, the "Clash of the Spartans" will take place at the pep assembly, when each class will shout loud and proud to prove they are the most spirited. Fall sports teams, extracurricular clubs, the Homecoming court, and Grand Marshal Oak Lawn Mayor Sandra Bury, will be highlighted during the pep assembly.  On Tuesday, Spartans are encouraged to "Make Yourself at Home" and come to school in their pajamas.  On Wednesday, students will twin with a friend on "Match Your Homies Day".  On Thursday, students will dress to travel on "Home Away from Home Day". On Friday, all Spartans will wear green to show their Spartan PRIDE and root on the varsity football team as they take on the Argo Argonauts.  JV will kick off at 5:00 p.m. and the Varsity game will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Homecoming parade is scheduled for Wednesday, September 25 and will step off from Wesleyan Community Church at 6:30 p.m. down Austin Avenue.  The pep rally and fireworks will follow at Napleton Field on the OLCHS campus.
The Homecoming dance will take place on Saturday, September 28 between 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. in the Spartan Gym. Tickets are $20 and go on sale September 23.

Parents, alumni and community members are welcome to attend the parade, pep rally, and all fall home athletic games to cheer on the OLCHS Spartans.
