Spartans Meet With Federal Judge

OLCHS values the learning enrichment that students get from field trips.  One field trip tradition in Steve Long’s class is to visit the Federal Dirksen Building in the Loop. On April 20, 2017, students from his Law in American Society class visited the Federal Dirksen Building in Chicago for the opportunity to watch a federal trial, motions, hearings, and the opportunity to talk to a federal district court judge for the Northern Illinois District: Judge John Robert Blakey.  Steve said, “The judge we met with was appointed to the bench by former President Barack Obama, and his father was a distinguished law professor at Notre Dame whom helped forge the federal RICO statute . . . it was an awesome opportunity for the students in my law class.”
