Spartans Celebrate Eclipse

Eclipse

The clouds did not stop Oak Lawn Community High School from their eclipse party; instead, faculty, staff and students insisted on making the best of the gray skies to get a glimpse of history. Spartans packed the football field or watched from their laptops, absorbing the wonder of this astronomical phenomenon.  Safety was of utmost importance, so many teachers purchased classroom sets of glasses for their 9th period classes, while other students purchased their own.

Students gazed at the sun, lying on their backs and cupping their hands around their paper glasses, anxiously awaiting for the moon to steal its glow.  Sophomore Adam Abusharkh said, “Even though it was cloudy, it was still cool to go outside with everyone and watch.”
