Last Saturday, more than 50 high school cheerleading teams descended on the Bank of Springfield Center in Springfield, Ill., for the Illinois Cheerleading Coaches Association Championships. When the dust had settled in southern Illinois, the Oak Lawn Community High School competitive cheer team finished in fourth place.
It was an impressive performance by the girls against some difficult competition and now sets the stage for the upcoming South Suburban Conference cheer meet.
“The girls were determined and had an excellent performance,” said head coach Maria Vanderwarren. “Next stop is conference.”
