Sophomore Kamil Schab bounced back and forth between being a singles player and being a doubles player on the Oak Lawn Community High School boys tennis team this spring. However, he really wanted to play singles only.
So, he challenged another singles player on the team, beat him and earned himself a spot as the second singles player for the Spartans. Schab went 5-2 as a singles player.
“Kamil is a versatile player, who has played doubles and singles this season,” head coach Adam Winchell said. “Upon his request to play singles at the varsity level, Kamil challenged another player and beat him in a tough match. Since then, Kamil has been playing second singles. I am confident that if he plays in the offseason and improves upon his current level of play, he will do great things next year as a junior on the team.”
